Gayathri Vaidyanathan is a multimedia journalist based in Washington, DC. She graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in May 2009 and was awarded the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Communications Award for her time there.
She has an undergraduate degree in Honors Biochemistry (Molecular Biology specialization) from McMaster University in Canada. Then she spent time in India, traveling and studying journalism at the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media.
Gayathri is now at ClimateWire. She was previously at WNYC Radio News, The Business Insider, and Fins.com (The Wall Street Journal). She was also involved with story development research at the Bureau for International Reporting, where she was researching three countries facing political, ethnic or economic challenges. The documentary aired on PBS in Fall ‘09.
Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, WNYC Radio, Fins.com (The Wall Street Journal), Down To Earth, Runners World and other places.
Before coming to the United States, she grew up in India, U.A.E. and Canada.
